Radiation Treatment Generates Cancer Stem Cells from Less Aggressive Breast Cancer Cells, Study Suggests
T.S. Wiley has been warning women for over 8 years about the dangers of any form of radiation and now it is coming to light in the mainstream media. She notes, "The problem with radiation treatment is obvious: science only knows of one absolute carcinogen to human tissue on this planet, and that carcinogen is ionizing radiation. If the cells don't die, the DNA breaks and they mutate. Cancer rarely starts with a mutated gene; but a gene can certainly be mutated by an outside-the-body influence like the ionizing radiation of power lines.”

Breast cancer stem cells are thought to be the sole source of tumor recurrence and are known to be resistant to radiation therapy and don't respond well to chemotherapy.

Now, researchers with the UCLA Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center report for the first time that radiation treatment -- despite killing half of all tumor cells during every treatment -- transforms other cancer cells into treatment-resistant breast cancer stem cells.

The generation of these breast cancer stem cells counteracts the otherwise highly efficient radiation treatment. If scientists can uncover the mechanisms and prevent this transformation from occurring, radiation treatment for breast cancer could become even more effective, said study senior author Dr. Frank Pajonk, an associate professor of radiation oncology and Jonsson Cancer Center researcher.

"We found that these induced breast cancer stem cells (iBCSC) were generated by radiation-induced activation of the same cellular pathways used to reprogram normal cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) in regenerative medicine," said Pajonk, who also is a scientist with the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine at UCLA. "It was remarkable that these breast cancers used the same reprogramming pathways to fight back against the radiation treatment."

The study recently appeared in the early online edition of the peer-reviewed journal Stem Cells

"Controlling the radiation resistance of breast cancer stem cells and the generation of new iBCSC during radiation treatment may ultimately improve curability and may allow for de-escalation of the total radiation doses currently given to breast cancer patients, thereby reducing acute and long-term adverse effects," the study states... Statins May Cause Diabetes, New Study Says
If all doctors followed the latest cholesterol treatment guidelines and all their patients took their prescribed statin medication, there would be 3.5 million more diabetics in America. But wait! There is another pill (or injection, actually) that has been shown to reduce the risk of diabetes. And it's only about ,000 per year per patient. Let's see: 3.5 million, times ,000. What does that bring us to?

Pharmageddon!

We are stuck in an absurd cultural habit of thinking that medication will save us from lifestyle and social diseases.

Two separate studies in today's issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) underscore that we have come to the end of an era of being saved by medication. Antibiotics and vaccines were a huge advance in medicine in the 20th century. But the single pill for the single ill just doesn't work for 21st century chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

Statins cause diabetes

The latest cholesterol guidelines (ATP III) increased the number of Americans who should take statin therapy from 13 to 40 million. Those additional 27 million are ones without heart disease, but who have high cholesterol. This type of treatment is called primary prevention. I have extensively reviewed the research on using statins to prevent heart attacks in people who never had them. The data is weak and shows no benefit, except the Jupiter trial, which ONLY showed benefit if patients also had inflammation (high C-reactive protein), not just high cholesterol or LDL. If you just had an elevated cholesterol, statins didn't help... Read More

I Will Not Be Pinkwashed: Komen's Race is for Money, Not the Cure
We have reported on the “hype” of the Susan B Komen Foundation in many newsletters. The following article exposes the hypocrisy further.

In the United States, virtually everyone has seen the "pink ribbon" campaigns plastered on everything from make-up and cupcakes to t-shirts and fried chicken buckets, and recognize the symbol as a sign of breast cancer awareness.
The actual functionality of Samsung SCX-4729FW Driver is to allow programs to perform printing with no becoming advise from the technical specifics Samsung SCX-4729FW.

It's certainly a noble cause, considering that if current trends continue one in 8 U.S. women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lives.

Unfortunately, this cause is noble only in appearance; in reality, the multimillion-dollar company behind all those pink ribbons -- the Susan G. Komen Foundation – uses less than a dime of each dollar to actually look for a breast cancer cure... and that's just the surface of the problem...

Former CEO of Komen's "Race for the Cure" Made More than the President of the U.S.

Hala G. Moddelmog, former CEO and president of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, made over 0,000 one year -- more than President Obama makes (she is now the president of Arby's Restaurant Group).

Employee salaries, or "administrative costs," actually eat up about 11 percent of the company's annual revenues, which might not sound too extreme until you consider what their annual revenues are.

The Komen Foundation has assets totaling over 0 million, and according to Charity Navigator had a total revenue of nearly 2 million in the fiscal year ending in March 2010.i

A breakdown of how this money was spent was given in a recent article on AlterNet, written by Emily Michele, which showed that only 20.9% of funds are actually used for research – even though a "search for the cure" is their most highly advertised mission.ii Where else does the money go?... nl_shift_work_teens_linked Circadian Rhythms Influence Immunity, Study Shows
Wiley notes, "Sleep is the biggest immunological defense scheme we've come up with yet. We and everything else alive from plankton and fungus to elephants and ants are synchronized to the orbit and rotation of the earth in and out of the sun's light to assure us a food supply. All things great and small have internal sundials that measure time with molecular clocks in every cell that switch genes on and off. The light always spark biochemical reactions and now mankind controls light and dark and we live in an endless summer. And as such we have disrupted our natural circadian rhythm."

It's common knowledge that too little sleep can increase our odds of getting sick, but a new study sheds light on just how direct the connection is. Researchers found that the body's circadian clock controls an essential immune system gene in mice -- a gene that helps the body ward off bacteria and viruses.

"People intuitively know that when their sleep patterns are disturbed, they are more likely to get sick," study author Erol Fikrig, professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Medicine, said in a press release. "It does appear that disruptions of the circadian clock influence our susceptibility to pathogens."

Circadian rhythms are internal oscillations that follow an approximately 24-hour cycle and regulate various physiological and mental processes. The rhythms are controlled by a particular group of nerve cells in the brain and can be influenced by behavior.

"They are the reason we feel hungry, sleepy, more alert and have better mental clarity at consistent times every day and night," explained Rebecca Scott, a sleep specialist at the New York Sleep Institute, who was not associated with the study.

"And those are just some of what we perceive," she continued. "Our blood pressure, hormones, immune function and a host of other functions also follow a circadian rhythm."... Read More

The Attack On Pregnant Mothers Escalates, by Suzanne Humphries, MD
The notion of injecting a pregnant woman with a vaccine is ludicrous. Just about every pharmaceutical on the market has a black box warning for pregnancy and lactating women.

Obstetricians and primary care physicians throughout the world will no-doubt be lauding the result of a recent publication, “Neonatal outcomes after influenza immunization during pregnancy: a randomized controlled trial,” which can be downloaded free at the time of this publication HERE, and the abstract can be viewed HERE. This study will be cited by doctors, advisory panels, and pharmaceutical drug reps. as they work to increase vaccination rates and sales using pregnant mothers as receptacles.

Expectant mothers will be told that getting a flu shot while they are pregnant is not only safe, but will protect from one of the possible consequences of influenza while pregnant – low birth weight.

How many doctors will ever read the abstract, let alone the full text? In the hectic environment of medical practice, they will take someone else’s word for it, and reassure unsuspecting mothers that the vaccine is the way to go.

There are several serious problems with this study, the least of which is that it was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and several pharmaceutical companies. Bill did, after all declare this the “decade of vaccination,” after delivering a check in the amount of 10 Billion dollars to make it happen. Much of his donation is hitting India and Africa in order to purchase oral polio vaccines and vaccine delivery trucks to reach remote villages. Now, influenza vaccines for pregnant mothers is on the way into the pipeline. Rumor has it that he is a candidate for a NOBEL PRIZE, for providing millions of infants and children with live oral polio vaccines. Well, it seems the fetus is now on his radar and this new article displays the misinformation typical of the rally to inject pregnant mothers with untested vaccines. This article references the main study, which was also funded by his foundation

Before too many doctors take the infotainment in this study at face value, let’s review some of the issues in design and interpretation... Read More

WILEY PROVIDERS ARE TALKING

Wiley Protocol Pharmacist Mark Filosi RPh, from Family Care Pharmacy in Plant City, Florida was our first Florida pharmacy over five years ago.

Dr. Patricia Ryan

Dr. Conrad Hicks
Family Care was originally referred to us by Dr Erika Bradshaw after she attended one of our very first “Two Days Back on Earth” conferences held in Santa Barbara, CA in 2007. Dr. Bradshaw was very excited and impressed with the information being presented by TS Wiley and she wanted to focus her practice in this new direction of menopause medicine. Mark says, “We were going to be left behind if we didn’t modify our practice to meet that demand that she had driven our way. Dr. Bradshaw is very cutting edge and one of our integral doctors that we work with. She’s always discovering things that are very good for her functional medicine patients. We know she’s very credible.”

As a pharmacy owner I look at all treatment modalities for hormone restoration and they have to be clinically sound for us to get onboard. I believe the Wiley Protocol is one of the few programs that I have looked at where I can see the science behind it and the clinical data. For me, it’s a buy in on the whole philosophy for why and how you do it and what you’re using. The why is explained in Wiley’s book, Sex, Lies and Menopause, the how is explained very well in the Two Days Back on Earth seminar.

As a compounder it’s important to be on solid ground since it’s such a gray area because there’s no double blind/placebo controlled studies to back us up. We believe that hormone restoration is not curative; it’s all about quality of life. There’s always a risk and a benefit. However now with the Wiley Protocol we feel like we have this major tool now in our arsenal of how we can help people that we never had before. Everything we had done previously was all static dosing and after learning Wiley, I realized static dosing just no longer makes sense for most people. At present we work with five-six active Wiley doctors and have around 150 Wiley patients.

One of my favorite Wiley stories is a woman in her 50’s who’s an avid dancer, nutritionist, consultant and wasn’t able to dance any longer because her weight increased and her hips were hurting so much. She’s very educated, has a health care background and wanted to be fully involved in her care. She was familiar with Wiley’s work and Suzanne Somers books. When she looked at this, Wiley was like having an external ovary and brain to her. Once she started doing the protocol she felt amazing and was able to dance again. Her husband who’s 15 yrs her senior was having major andropause symptoms. He was so impressed with her response that he too went on the WP for Men, cycling with her, and together their whole life has improved. Men experience increased energy, improved sexual performance, more muscle mass, reduction of belly fat, and increased mental clarity.

I visit doctors’ offices and I speak to them about Wiley as an alternative BHRT that they may not have heard of. I tell them that women do really well on this protocol but have found that some of the best candidates for the Wiley Protocol are actually the women who have had hysterectomies. This usually amazes them and then the light goes on and this makes more sense.

In closing I want to say that I was so impressed with the planetarium show at your Two Days seminar, when I came back I took my family to the local planetarium hoping for a similar show and unfortunately we all fell asleep.”

Interview with a Wiley Protocol Provider:

We asked Dr. Shanhong Lu MD, PhD. who practices in Mt Shasta CA. why she has chosen the Wiley Protocol as her preferred BHRT regimen, which she has been prescribing for three years. In addition she shared with us two of her most remarkable patient stories.

“I have been prescribing all forms of BHRT for many years. Before Wiley my goal at the time was just symptom relief. Since Wiley, it’s my philosophy that if we do not mimic nature completely we will naturally bear the consequence of some unnatural outcome. I do believe Wiley is the most natural way and therefore the safest we can offer to people. It’s restorative instead of a band-aid for symptoms. I believe in restoring the complete hormonal cascade, with thyroid and HGH, so that the pituitary gland is in the same age group as my female hormone program.

I work with many physicians in the BHRT field and I always share my passion to restore a natural rhythm. There are four channels of elimination of environmental toxins in the body: the liver, skin/sweat, gut and urination. In Chinese medicine, it’s believed that the monthly menstrual flow eliminates diseases. I believe women live longer because they have this extra channel of elimination. It makes sense to continue the cycle for optimal health.

I myself have been on Wiley for two and a half years. Immediately I felt my body was more flexible plus all of my achiness and stiffness was gone. I believe the essence of life is what really matters. So many people come to me and they have forgotten why they are alive. I think as a physician, it’s my responsibility to restore one to their full potential, so they can live young and die young. I remember hearing TS Wiley say at a seminar, “Every day above ground should be a good one.”

In my clinic I’ve been consistently putting two people a week on Wiley for almost three years. Patients are coming to me from everywhere. I’m teaching other physicians to use Wiley. I teach physicians why we peak the estrogen and how that’s critical for the response of progesterone. It’s so validating when I see new physicians utilizing the Wiley Protocol. I would say it’s a different class of anti-aging. It just makes so much physiological sense.

One of my favorite Wiley stories is a patient in her 70’s. She had multi-glandular issues. She had no human growth hormone, exhausted adrenals and very low thyroid. She had chronic levels of anxiety, severe palpitations and was in my office weekly. At first I didn’t think she would be a candidate for the Wiley Protocol, but when I tried to address it without estrogen, it just didn’t work. As soon as I put her on the Wiley Protocol I was able to manage the rest of her imbalances. It was amazing! She got her period back the first month. She had never been married nor had children. Within three months she fell in love and got married. I think the protocol opened her heart!

Another one of my patients had this severe rash on her legs. She’s hypo-thyroid, has severe iodine deficiency, one of those very sensitive patients that can’t take anything. She was peri-menopausal so I started her on the Wiley Protocol and within three months her skin became completely normal. Everything else improved also. She is very grateful.

The book, The Female Brain, says estrogen is the molecule of love. Love as vibrational energy and estrogen has its own vibration and it attracts people that want love. How can you truly love, if you are lacking the molecule that vibrates love?

I live in a very alternative community in Mt Shasta. We have lots of “spiritual” people going through the hormonal change. They don’t understand why they feel so bad when they meditate; they practice positive thinking and do all of these wonderful things. Why am I so bitter and have so many problems with my family? I tell them you may be a spiritual being but you are living in a physical body and your body needs the vibration of this physical molecule.”
